elevator communication system

Bravox products feature both hardware and software watchdogs that monitor the network link in real time. If a network issue occurs, the device will either reconnect automatically or reboot to restore the connection, greatly improving network reliability.

When developing new communication system for elevators,

the following challenges have been identified

  1. Interoperability: With many different elevator manufacturers and systems on the market, there can be challenges in ensuring that different elevator systems can communicate with each other and with building management systems.
  2. Maintenance and Upkeep: As elevators become more advanced and connected, maintaining and troubleshooting them can become more complex. Ensuring that elevator systems are regularly updated and maintained is crucial for their continued operation.
  3. Integration with other building systems: Integrating elevators with other building systems such as HVAC, lighting and access control can be challenging and require significant planning and coordination.
  4. Interference: Wireless communication systems used in elevators can be affected by interference from other electronic devices, which can cause communication problems.
  5. Safety & Reliability: Elevators are critical safety systems and communication failures or malfunctions can have serious consequences. Ensuring the safety and reliability of elevator communication systems is of paramount importance.

 

When we deploy a communication system in the elevator, the first challenge is the network. As we know, most of the elevators do not come with network travelling cable as that is costly and not easy for maintenance.  Bravox comes out the elevator communication solution to address this challenge. The solution is to re-use the two-wire travelling cable which already exists in most of the elevators and add on a pair of EOC transmitter/receiver devices. By using different model of converters, the solution can meet various scenarios as follows.

In most cases, there is only one network device need to be used. Elevator motor room and elevator car both sides can provide power supply to the device. Hence a pair of devices are connected by a two-wire travelling cable to provide the network connectivity between elevator motor room and elevator car.

In some cases, there are more than one network device need to be used. Elevator motor room and elevator car both sides can provide power supply to the device. A pair of one port to four-port devices are connected by a two-wire travelling cable to provide the network connectivity between elevator motor room and elevator car, providing four LAN ports to connect up to four network devices.

In some cases, there is no power supply available in elevator car.  In this case, two devices which support remote power supply are connected by a two-wire travelling cable to provide the network connectivity between elevator motor room and elevator car. The device from elevator motor room is connected to power supply with input range from DC 24V to DC 48V. The device then can supply the power to the device in elevator car via the same two-wire travelling cable.

The remote power supply solution can support 1 device case or multiple device case. User can choose 4 port POE to supply power to network device and can choose POC for remote power supply to the receiver.
